emmerson says...(part 2)

"I kiss him on the head. Because I like him. Because he's my best friend."
Her simple, sweet explanation on why she kissed her friend, much to her Daddy's dismay.

"I give Mama kisses because you're my best girl. Not Daddy, because you turned the t.v. off."

"Go play with Hutch, baby. Make him happy."
"No. I don't want to."
"But you love your brother!"
"But, I don't like him that much."

"Daddy. You made me throw up. You make us all throw up."
Husband brought a stomach bug home a couple months ago and she has not let him forget about it.

"Hey! What's the big ole deal?"

"Ah! You scared me! You scared my tummy!"

"Mommy, I don't want lunch. I want dinner."

"Mommy! I can't hear! I got stuff in my ears! My ears are stuffy! Get the stuffy out!"
Driving through the mountains, experiencing her first "ear popping."

"I smell it in my mouth."

"Where are you going, Mommy?"
"I'm going to work, Baby."
"Because Mommy's a teacher now."
"But, but you're a Mommy!"

On the way to the pet store,
"Maybe there's hippos there. Maybe there's ladybugs. Maybe."

"Mmm. Smells like mustache."

"I have my fast feet on!"

"Ima pew you. Pew, pew!"
Complete with the cutest little finger guns.

"Hutch, you're kinda loud."

"Mama. Mama. Tell me the truth. Where did you get the movies and t.v.?"

"Ooooookay. This is getting heavy on me."

"It smells like Cat in the Hat!"

emmerson says...

Our perfectly precious, diva-baby, little girl is now 3.5 years old.
She's been spitting out the funniest things for awhile now, and I've decided to collect them and share them here.

"The wind!" *arms in the air, eyes closed, face towards the sky* "I love you, wind!"

*bouncing on my pregnancy ball* "Get this baby outta me! Get this baby outta me!"

*driving through downtown Memphis* "This is all pretty. This is pretty. Pretty castles."

"It's okay, Hutch. I'm right here. I'm not leaving." (Every time her brother starts to cry.)

"I like you, Mommy. Right there. I like you."

*under her door, watching Daddy go into Hutch's room* "You forgot Emmerson in here. You, You forgot Emmerson in here."

"I love my Daddy. Mommy, do you love my Daddy? My Daddy is SO cute."

"Hey, can you button my britches?"

"My hiccups are hungry!"

"Mom, my finger's about to break and, and I won't have anymore!"

"Hey, Mom. How you doing? Nice to meet you. I need you to smile."

"Hutch doesn't talk like Jesus."

birthday at the aquarium! {a video}

We celebrated our sweet girl's 3rd birthday on Tuesday at the Oklahoma Aquarium.
It was so fun to watch her eyes light up at every turn.
The sharks were a bit much for her, but the turtle was a hit!

Made a little video to remember our day...

christmas 2017 {a video}

A merry little Christmas, indeed.

holidays with hutch

He came quickly.
He brought peace.
His every move is admired by the three of us.
During the most wonderful time of the year, he brings even more wonder.

His baby blue eyes focusing on the lights...
His soft, tiny hands grasping the blankets and sweaters...
Little breaths against my skin...
Sweet, sleepy faces in the light of the fireplace...
Awe and wonder as sister laughs and sings...
Oblivious and unaware of his first Christmas.

But, oh, how aware I am that he came for me.
To slow down.
To cherish.
To be thankful.
To be in love.

His smiles,
his hands,
his noises,
are all I need this Christmas.
